A fractal is an amazing geometric shape that goes on, and on. Simply put it occurs when one makes a pattern and allows it to reoccur in smaller and smaller form, branching off from itself over and over. Fractals occur naturally in nature, a good example would be a snow flake.
Architecture is mostly about building places for us to live and work.
On the other hand, some architectural styles are informed by Nature, and much of Nature is manifestly fractal.
So perhaps we should not be so surprised to find fractal architecture.
As we shall see, fractals appear in architecture for reasons other than mimicking patterns in Nature.
